The Notre Dame football program landed big on the recruiting trail late Friday when four-star athlete Braden Lenzy announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish.
Lenzy is the No. 10-ranked athlete in the Class of 2018.
Two weeks ago, the Portland native announced his decommitment from the Oregon Ducks following the departure of former head coach Willie Taggart.
Now, he has committed to play for the Brian Kelly’s squad.
Lenzy announced his commitment in an article for The Players’ Tribune.
“Next year, I’m going to Notre Dame,” Lenzy wrote.
“When I made my official visit last week after opening my recruitment back up, I had this one moment of clarity that I’d been waiting for without knowing it. I was walking out of the locker room and onto the field. The weather wasn’t great — it was 30° outside and snowing — but for some reason it also seemed perfect. It was almost like an itch had finally been scratched…
“And that was that.”
Lenzy is the third-ranked player in the state of Oregon.
