Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz has long been considered one of the most respected and consistent head coaches in college football.
The 62-year-old has led the Hawkeyes since 1999 and many have have been wondering whether he would ever leave toaccept a head coaching job in the NFL.
Ferentz previously coached atthe NFL level as an offensive line coach forthe Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens.
And while there is no word on whether Ferentz would actually consider making the move back to the NFL, Jordan Raanan of ESPN says he has heard Ferentz’s name brought up as a potential candidate for the New York Giants head coaching vacancy.
Another collegiate coach who has been mentioned is Utah’s Kyle Whittingham.

It will be interesting to see if Ferentz would actually consider an offer to leave Iowa for one of the top markets in the sports world, but if he does, it will have been a well-deserved opportunity.
