The top-ranked Villanova basketball program tasted defeat for the first time this season.

On Saturday night, the No. 1 Wildcats fell to unranked Butler, 101-93, in front of the rowdy Bulldogs home crowd at Finkle Fieldhouse.

Butler shot an incredible 68 percent from behind the arc, going 15-of-22.

As you would expect after such a big win at home, the Butler fans immediately stormed the court when the final buzzer sounded. Check out the celebration below:

The celebration was well-deserved.

It is the third straight game that Butler has defeated Villanova.

Two Butler players topped 20 points on the night — Kelan Martin with 24 and Paul Jorgensen with 23 — while Kamar Baldwin added 19.

Butler, now 12-3 on the year, will look to keep their momentum rolling next week against No. 6 Xavier on Tuesday, Jan. 2 and No. 23 Seton Hall on Saturday, Jan. 6. Villanova, meanwhile, doesn’t return to the court until Saturday, Jan. 6. They’ll likely lose their No. 1 ranking.
