ESPN’s Jon Gruden has been heavily linked to the Oakland Raider head coaching vacancy.
For the past few seasons, the Super Bowl winning head coach has been considered for multiple coaching jobs in college and the NFL, but he has continued to serve in his role on Monday Night Football.
However, that could all be changing soon.
During an appearance on Golic & Wingo on Wednesday morning, Gruden addressed the Raider head coaching gig and said “there’s a good chance” he could end up landing the job.
“I think there’s a good chance,” Gruden told Golic. “I’m excited about where I am in terms of studying the game and prepared to come back and coach. I just don’t want to sit here and speculate. I don’t know what’s going to happen, Mike. I gotta be honest with you.
“It’s been a long couple of weeks. I know they’ve gone through there process of interviewing candidates and until they’re done I won’t know, but I did have a good meeting with [owner] Mark [Davis]. I’ve known him a long time and I’ve got a lot of respect for the Raider football organization. ”
