The Texas A&M basketball program has handed out punishment to the duo of players who found themselves in legal trouble over the weekend.
Aggies freshman guards J.J. Caldwell and Jay Jay Chandler were arrested on Sunday for marijuana possession. They were charged with misdemeanor possession of less than two ounces of marijuana.
As a result of their arrests, Caldwell has been dismissed from the team while Chandler has been suspended.
The Dallas Morning News was first to report the news.
Caldwell, who sat out last season due to academic issues, had recently watched his playing time decrease.
Chandler, meanwhile, had played in 24 of 25 games for Texas A&M. Chandler has averaged four points and one rebound per game coming off the bench for Bill Kennedy’s squad.
Texas A&M returns to action on Tuesday night against the Missouri Tigers.
