Georgia State basketball coach Ron Hunter is a national treasure.
The last time we saw him leading the Panthers in the NCAA Tournament was when he was sitting on a chair to watch Georgia State, then led by his son R.J., take on Baylor in the First Round of the tournament because he had ruptured his Achilles while celebrating the team’s win in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game.
After R.J. hit a game-winning shot to win the game, Hunter fell out of his chair.
Now, he is back in the Big Dance and better than ever.
While meeting with the media ahead of the Panthers’ meeting with the No. 2 seed Cincinnati Bearcats, Hunter reminded us all just how great of a character he is when he dropped this brilliant quote about the difference between the two programs.

“They told us today that Cincinnati gets to stay at the Hyatt, we’ve gotta stay at Comfort Inn,” Hunter said. “Cincinnati gets to eat at Ruth’s Chris (Steak House), we ‘ve gotta eat at Wendy’s. But when it comes Friday, we’re gonna be ready. We’re gonna be ready to play. I can guarantee you that.”
Never change, Ron.
Georgia State and Cincinnati are set to tip-off Friday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. ET on TBS.
