The 2018 NCAA women’s basketball tournament concludes on Sunday night with the national championship game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Mississippi State Bulldogs, both No. 1 seeds.
The two teams reached the title game after an epic Final Four that saw both national semifinals head to overtime for the first time ever in the tournament’s history.
Notre Dame reached the national title game out of the Spokane Regional, with wins over Cal State Northridge, Villanova, Texas A&M and Oregon. The Fighting Irish then stunned the UConn women’s basketball team in the Final Four.
Mississippi State, meanwhile, dominated the Kansas City Regional, blowing out all of the opponents in their way. The Bulldogs knocked off Nicholls State, Oklahoma State, North Carolina State and UCLA before a thrilling win over Louisville in the Final Four.
Now, the two teams will dance one final time this season with the trophy on the line.
