UMBC Keeps Upsetting No. 1 Teams, This Time In Men's Lacrosse

UMBC — The University of Maryland, Baltimore County — did the unthinkable during the 2018 NCAA Tournament, knocking off No. 1 overall seed Virginia in the opening round. It was the first time in the history of March Madness that a No. 16 seed was able to knock off a No. 1 seed.
Over the weekend, the Retrievers pulled out some magic again.
During a Friday night men’s lacrosse game between UMBC and No. 1 Albany, the Retrievers proved to be the top dogs and came away with a stunning 11-7 victory over the Great Danes.
UMBC entered the match on a four-game losing streak and with a lowly 2-7 record, but they proved that Retrievers teams will always show up when it’s against the No. 1 teams. Albany, meanwhile, was undefeated entering the game and riding a 31-game regular season conference winning streak.
Naturally, UMBC’s Twitter account brought out some heat to celebrate the big win.

They even said hello to the Alabama football program.

Well played, UMBC.
Not only are their basketball and men’s lacrosse teams on point, they’ve got a savage leading the social media team.
