The college baseball world was struck with tragedy. On Friday night, Zach Attianese, a 20-year-old standout baseball player who was set to join the Florida State baseball program, was tragically killed in a car accident along with his father, Jude Attianese, who was 61 years old and his son’s high school coach.
“Our prayers go out to Zach’s mom Natalie and his sisters, Ashley and Sabrina, as they endure this heartbreaking tragedy,” said Florida State head coach Mike Martin in a statement.
“Zach was a wonderful young man with a bright future that was sadly stripped away. We will continue to have the Attianese family in our thoughts.”

Zach Attianese Cause of Death: Car Accident
Attianese and his father were killed in a car accident Friday, June 15. According to the Bridgewater Courier News, the accident occurred around 11:00 p.m. Attianese and his father were traveling on the highway when they were struck by a commercial vehicle.

Michigan State Police reports that the crash occurred just before 11 p.m. Friday on northbound I-75 near Dix Toledo Road. Preliminary investigation shows a commercial vehicle struck a passenger vehicle, killing a 61-year-old father and his 20-year-old son who were inside. The men were from New Jersey, and State Police did not release their names, though they did say family members have been notified.
