The Stonehill College community was left heartbroken Tuesday morning when just around 3:30am authorities discovered the body of the Skyhawks junior offensive lineman and former Ramsey High track star Marc Tarabocchia after what has been deemed an “apparent suicide” at the team’s football facility. Stonehill spokesman Martin McGovern has stated that “Our focus is on supporting one another and offering our prayers for the student and their family and friends.” while head coach Eli Gardner stated in the school’s press release that “I would like to send my deepest sympathies and prayers to Marc’s family,” and that “I will remember Marc as a caring and smart individual, and good friend to all within the football program here at Stonehill.” The Skyhawk community rallied together in prayer at the school chapel yesterday to mourn the tragic passing and honor Marc’s memory.

Yesterday, the College Community, deeply impacted by the loss of Marc Tarabocchia ’20, came together in prayer in the Chapel of Mary. In addition, outside the Chapel, hundreds more stood in silent solidarity as an expression of campus unity before participating in a second service. We continue to mourn the loss of Marc, and thank everyone for the outpouring of kindness and compassion from so many in the Stonehill family and beyond. #stONEhill💜 #LightAndHope
Close friend and teammate Tim Carbonneau shared the following heartfelt goodbye on Twitter, followed by a compassionate message to those going through similar struggles:
An accounting major and a member of the conference honor roll both semesters last year, Marc was just 20 years old. While not much more information has been released, our thoughts and prayers are with the Tarabocchia family and the Stonehill community.
