Jontay Porter, a standout former five-star recruit for the Missouri Tigers basketball program, had learned some awful news. On Monday, Oct. 22, it was reported that Porter, the brother of former Tigers star Michael Porter, had suffered a torn ACL and MCL which has ended his sophomore season prematurely.
Porter suffered the injury during a closed scrimmage against Southern Illinois.
“Mizzou sophomore forward Jontay Porter suffered a season-ended knee injury during a closed scrimmage vs. Southern Illinois on Sunday,” a statement from the program read. “Porter tore his anterior cruciate ligament and his medial collateral ligament, and will be sidelined for the 2018-19 campaign.
“No additional comment from the Mizzou Men’s Basketball program will be provided at this time.”
