Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was one of five passengers onboard his personal helicopter which crashed outside of King Power Stadium on Saturday, October 27 following a 1-1 draw between the Foxes and West Ham. All five passengers onboard the helicopter were killed.
The 60-year-old owner and Thai tycoon was beloved by fans for leading the team to prominence following his purchase in August 2010.
Leicester City confirmed Srivaddhanaprabha’s death in a statement.
“It is with the deepest regret and a collective broken heart that we confirm our Chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, was among those to have tragically lost their lives on Saturday evening when a helicopter carrying him and four other people crashed outside King Power Stadium. None of the five people on-board survived,” a club statement read.
“The primary thoughts of everyone at the Club are with the Srivaddhanaprabha family and the families of all those on-board at this time of unspeakable loss.
“In Khun Vichai, the world has lost a great man. A man of kindness, of generosity and a man whose life was defined by the love he devoted to his family and those he so successfully led. Leicester City was a family under his leadership. It is as a family that we will grieve his passing and maintain the pursuit of a vision for the Club that is now his legacy.”
After Srivaddhanaprabha’s purchase of the team, Leicester City went on to earn a promotion to the English Premier League in 2014 before pulling off one of the most unlikely championship runs in sports history when the Foxes claimed the 2015-16 Premier League title.

Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Cause Of Death: Helicopter Crash
Following a Premier League match on Saturday, October 27, Vichai was one of five people onboard his helicopter which picks him up on the middle of the field. Vichai, one of his daughters, two pilots, and an unnamed person were among the five who were on board. As soon as the helicopter cleared the stadium, eyewitnesses say it began to spiral out of control before crashing into a ball of flames in the stadium parking lot.
The cause of the crash is believed to have been a faulty tail propeller.
Srivaddhanaprabha, who held a net worth of an estimated $4.9 billion, was just 60 years old. He was also the owner and chairman of King Power International Group, and the chairman of OH Leuven.
