It’s not every day that you see a college football program participating in a gender reveal, but that is exactly what happened with the FIU Golden Panthers recently when special teams coordinator James Vollono asked for some assistance when it came to unveiling the newest addition to his family.
Coach Vollono called on kicker Jose Borregales to kick a “field goal” with a ball that was packed with powder.
Gender reveal parties have been growing in popularity over recent years with expecting parents inviting guests to a celebration that will unveil the sex of their baby. Gender reveal parties require creativity before the big unveiling which announces the sex of the baby with either pink (female) or blue (male).
The first public video of a gender reveal was posted on YouTube in 2008. Since 2017, there has been a 60 percent increase in gender reveal videos online and they continue to generate more and more attention.
The FIU football team, however, may be the first gender reveal video that included a football team and field goal, so kudos to the Golden Panthers and Coach Vollono on the creativity.
So, is Coach Vollono welcoming a boy or girl to his family?
