Justin Fields, a former five-star recruit, is one of the top transfer options at the quarterback position. The Georgia Bulldogs signal-caller is reportedly exploring transfer options and one prominent Power Five program is emerging as a potential destination.

According to a report from the Miami Herald, Fields is in the mix for newly crowned Miami head coach Manny Diaz and the Hurricanes.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are also reportedly an option for the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback.

From the report:

Georgia’s Justin Fields. Reports circulated in December that he was considering transferring, but there’s no indication if he actually will. UM has strong interest. He was rated the No. 2 overall prospect and No. 1 dual-threat quarterback out of the prep ranks in 2018. Ohio State is considered a strong contender.

Other options for the Hurricanes are Buffalo’s Tyree Jackson, a graduate transfer, former SMU signal-caller Ben Hicks, and Brandon Wimbush of Notre Dame, who has starting experience for the Fighting Irish.

Miami recently replaced former head coach Mark Richt, who announced his decision to step down following a disappointing 2018 campaign.

In Richt’s first season leading Miami, he led the program to a 9-4 record and win in the Russell Athletic Bowl. In 2017, the Richt-led Hurricanes continued to improve and claimed the ACC Coastal Division championship with a 10-3 overall record and 7-1 mark in ACC play.

This season, however, it was a big step back for the program.

Miami struggled in conference play and recorded a lackluster 4-4 record. The team’s overall record was 7-6 on the season, ending with two straight losses.
