Duke basketball star Zion Williamson is listed as day-to-day after a freak incident where his Nike sneaker exploded on the court during a game against the North Carolina Tar Heels and he ultimately suffered a minor knee sprain. Williamson has not taken the court for the Blue Devils since then, and now we finally have an update.
This weekend, Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski issued an update on the freshman sensation and it doesn’t look like Williamson will be returning to the court anytime soon.
According to Coach K, Williamson has yet to have any contact since suffering the injury.
Following Duke’s win over the Miami Hurricanes, Coach K addressed the media to provide the update.
“He hasn’t done anything with contact,” Krzyzewski said. “But he’s moving really well. Contact makes you do things that you don’t think about. You have to pass that phase. We’re not in any hurry.
“There aren’t people like him athletically so he has to be 100 percent so that his body is always responding instinctively to what his mind and heart feel. We’ve seen it. You can’t put him out there with any less than that. You cannot and we won’t.”

Williamson is hoping to be healthy to return to the Blue Devils in time for the 2019 NCAA Tournament where Duke is expected to be a No. 1 seed.
Up next for the Blue Devils is a meeting with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Tuesday, March 5 before finishing off the regular season with a rematch against the Tar Heels.
