Duke Basketball: Zion Williamson Cleared For ACC Tournament Quarterfinals

Rejoice, Duke basketball fans. Freshman sensation and ACC Player of the Year Zion Williamson is finally set to return to the court after missing some action following a freak knee injury after his sneaker exploded on the court against the rival North Carolina Tar Heels.
Duke will be facing off against the No. 6-seed Syracuse Orange in the ACC Basketball Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday, March 14 with tip-off set for 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
While Williamson’s limits could be limited in his return, the 6-foot-7, 282-pound forward is expected to be in uniform and fully available for Mike Krzyzewski. Williamson has missed six games since February 20 when he suffered a minor knee sprain.
Duke announced Williamson’s return early Thursday morning which built further anticipation leading up to tip-off.

When Williamson was out of action, the Blue Devils’ weaknesses were exposed. Duke went just 3-3 in the six games without Williamson and even suffered a last-second loss to Wake Forest in the regular season finale at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
With Williamson back in the lineup, Coach K and company will hope to get back on the right path and build momentum in the lead up to the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Duke will learn their place in the tournament on during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on Sunday, March 17. Buckle up, ladies and gentlemen, March Madness is almost officially here.
