Duke basketball star Zion Williamson is arguably the most talented player the nation has seen come through the college ranks in years. As a result, CBS is set to follow the freshman sensation with his own dedicated camera dubbed “Zion Cam.”
CBS announced that they will be launching the “Zion Cam” for March Madness when the Blue Devils take on No. 16 seed North Dakota State.
“Because of Zion (Williamson), we have added a camera dedicated to him the whole time he is on the floor,” Mark Wolff, the coordinating producer of college basketball at CBS, said, via Josh Kendall of The State. “We hired a cameraman, a camera, a digital tape machine to record everything he does.
“We were recording his workout here (Thursday) in the event something were to happen. We are monitoring Zion 24-7.”
Now that is dedication.
The camera dedicated to Williamson, who is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, is believed to be the very first time that a single player has had his own camera in the history of the NCAA Tournament.
Tip-off between the No. 1 seed Blue Devils and Bison is set for 7:10 p.m. ET at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina. The game will be broadcast live on CBS.
