Back in mid-February Notre Dame receiver Javon McKinley was arrested on two accounts of battery and was also charged with resisting arrest. McKinley was reportedly intoxicated during the incident and was being escorted back to his dorm room by police before assaulting them both.
However, in this time of uncertainty, McKinley received some positive news.
Per the South Bend Tribune, McKinley has entered into a pretrial diversion agreement with the prosecution. In this agreement, McKinley will have to complete 40 hours of community service, a drug, and alcohol evaluation, and possibly seek treatment depending on the results of his evaluation.

In return, McKinley will just have to pay his court dues and stay out of trouble for the next year and the charges against him will be dismissed. A fortunate break for the senior receiver. Head coach Brian Kelly previously suspended McKinley due to his actions. But, after time Kelly reinstated McKinley and allowed him on the team once again.
McKinley collegiate career has been mainly derailed with injuries. As a freshman, he played in six games. However, the previous four-star recruit missed the entire 2017 season due to injury. He also only played four games in 2018. With such little playing experience, McKinley cannot afford to exhibit this unethical behavior.
Even with McKinley’s unethical behavior, it seems the college football gods or mainly just the prosecution are giving him one more chance to redeem his college football career.
