DJ Uiagalelei, the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the class of 2020, has announced his college decision and the rich continue to get richer. On Sunday, May 5, the nation’s top signal-caller announced that he will be heading to South Carolina to begin his college career with Dabo Swinney and the reigning national champion Clemson football program.
The five-star recruit announced his decision in a video on social media.
As an elite recruit at St. John Bosco in California, Uiagalelei threw for more than 6,000 yards, 77 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He is also a star baseball player and plans to continue being a two-sport athlete at Clemson.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder is the No. 1 pro-style quarterback recruit in the country.
Uiagalelei chose the Tigers over Oregon; he also held offers from top programs like the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma Sooners, and many more. His final list of schools also included Mt. San Antonio Community College, according to The Oregonian, but it was simply included due to family ties to the program.
Clemson currently has Trevor Lawrence, who was the top quarterback recruit a year ago and led the Tigers to a national title over the Alabama Crimson Tide as a true freshman.
