Prior to making his commitment, McDaniels, who also held offers from Kentucky, UCLA, Texas, and San Diego State, was a star at Federal Way High School. The 6-foot-9 power forward was ranked as the top player at his position in the nation and the state of Washington, as well as the No. 8 recruit overall.
McDaniels joins a Huskies squad that is fresh off of a 27-9 record where they reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament and claimed the Pac-12 regular season championship. The Huskies scored a win over No. 25 Utah State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament before they went on to suffer a loss to No. 3 North Carolina at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
