There is nothing more upsetting than being a New York Knicks fan. If you talk to any Knicks fan, then you know the struggle of being let down season after season. Each year fans give up on the team before the season even starts, they look forward to the offseason, and the Knicks haven’t also played a game yet. Whether it is coaching, roster or front office issues, the Knicks have not had a successful run. In the last 10 years, the Knicks have made the playoffs three times. After missing out potential free agents here is how the New York Knicks can make use of the 2019-2020 NBA season.

Everyone is always saying how much New York is a beautiful place to play with Madison Square Garden being an old venue. There is still talk the Knicks getting a big-name free agent. There were` talks of the Knicks of getting LaMarcus Alridge at one point. This offseason there were reports of us landing two big-name free agents. We traded away the one star the Knicks kind of had, Kristaps Porzingis and couple of other players to free up cap space. The talk the town was that the Knicks were gonna land Kevin Durant and another potential star like Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker. That was not the case as both Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving both went to Brooklyn. The only major player that the Knicks actually got was Julius Randle. The Knicks did not land any free agent yet again, and the only other option was the draft.
The Knicks have had top ten draft picks in the last five years, Kristaps Porzingis (2015), Frank Nitlikina (2017), Kevin Knox (2018) and R.J Barrett (2019). At first, everyone thought Porzingis was a horrible pick at number four, but he turned out to be the cornerstone of the franchise. The Frank Nitilikina pick was questionable he still has not developed into the player the Knicks thought he would be. Kevin Knox is showing glimpses of being an impact type of player that could be part of the future. R.J Barett could be the face of the team if he develops his game into a scoring machine. It is all about how the organization grows.

The Knicks last year finished last in the conference going 17-65. Their leading scorer was Dennis Smith Jr. with 14.7 on a technical basis because Tim Hardaway Jr was the leading scorer with 19.1 but was involved in the Kristaps trade. They made no big moves in the offseason like everyone thought they were going to. The knicks got a fantastic player in R.J Barett so he will be a significant focus of the offense. Next year the Knicks should look to tank and get a top 5 pick in the draft. The Knicks should try to develop their core. Kevin Knox started coming into his own last season averaging 13 a game while shooting 34.3% from three. Knox showed glimpses of being a player that has potential.
The Knicks signed players on a two-year deal so that they can have options in the 2021 free-agent class. The 2021 class could be stacked as players like Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Bradley Beal, and LeBron James will all be potential free agents. Now the Knicks will improve in their record this year they have an excellent team to win more than 17 games this season.
