Now that the NBA offseason is over and preseason play is starting, players are getting ready for the regular season to start. Now that all of the roster moves have taken place and it looks like no more moves will be made, fans can tell which teams can make the playoffs and what organizations should start thinking about next year’s offseason. For specific groups, they have the blueprint for how they want their teams to look while others are just beginning their rebuild. Here are five NBA teams that are focused on rebuilding.
5. Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns have been rebuilding their team for years, they have gotten picks in the lottery for more than three years. The Suns have their franchise cornerstone in Devin Booker and can give that same label to DeAndre Ayton. The Suns have not had unbeaten run with their top draft picks like Josh Jackson and Dragan Bender. The Suns look to start something with the addition of Ricky Rubio. They will try to get undrafted guard Jalen Lecque to progress into an all-around the guard. The West is so stacked the Suns will not make the playoffs, but they should focus on how their team can improve.
4. Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards were once a team that was in the playoffs and were a tough team to face. In recent years they have declined with injuries to John Wall and people saying the chemistry conflict between John Wall and Bradley Beal. The Wizards have not gotten any better this offseason, another season without John Wall might hurt them. They drafted a wing player in Rui Hachimura at pick 9 in the draft, but no significant moves were made. Fans will see Bradley Beal play his heart out as he approaching his contract year, but he could potentially leave, so the Wizards should try to put themselves in rebuild mode and move him for young assets.
3. Cleveland Cavaliers

The departure of Lebron James put this team in a rebuild way. They ended up with the fourth pick in the draft and took Darius Garland another guard which was questionable. The Cavaliers have been rumored to trade Kevin Love to try to get more assets and deal with life after LeBron. The Cavaliers could make the playoffs if they play well but they should focus on trying to get more assets and develop more of their young talents.
2. Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets are full rebuild mode they lost their franchise star in Kemba Walker. The Hornets just could not develop their ability and make a playoff push at the same time. They needed to make some impact roster moves if they wanted to make a playoff appearance. The Hornets took the route where they want to develop their young talents like Miles Bridges and Malik Monk, so expect them to get more minutes and make them a much more significant part of their gameplan. The Hornets will look to develop P.J Washington as well.
1. Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder are in the best position for a rebuild after moving on from Paul George and Russell Westbrook. The Thunder got an abundance of draft picks for the future. They have the ability to be a decent team in the west, the west is too stacked for them to possibly make the playoffs so they should try to focus on putting the team on full rebuild mode.
