Five-Star TE Jaxon Dollar Commits to UGA in 2027 Recruiting Class

Five-star tight end Jaxon Dollar committed to Georgia on Thursday, announcing his decision live on the CBS Sports YouTube channel and CBS Sports HQ. It’s the kind of commitment that could define a recruiting class.

Dollar chose the Bulldogs over Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame, and Texas. He took unofficial visits to each school this spring, but Georgia pulled ahead of the pack.

“Everybody at Georgia made it feel like home,” Dollar told 247Sports‘ Tom Loy.

Ranked as the No. 2 tight end and No. 32 overall prospect in the country per 247Sports, Dollar checks in at 6-foot-5 and 222 pounds. He’s the kind of tight end modern offenses are desperately looking for: someone who can line up in the slot, split out wide, attach to the line, or work out of the backfield.

What the Scouts Are Saying

247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins didn’t hold back in his assessment.

“This is one of the best players in the class — hands down. He’s a modern slot tight end. He’s a matchup hunter. He’s got elite coordination, elite catch radius, all that stuff. He’s listed at 6-foot-5 but might actually be closer to 6-foot-2. But I don’t think it matters with this kid. He is just a guy who can be a featured individual in any passing attack.”

Dollar is the third five-star prospect to commit to Georgia’s 2027 class, joining running back Kamon Spell and cornerback Donte Wright. The Bulldogs were ranked 20th nationally before Dollar’s commitment.

That ranking won’t stay at 20 for long.

A Basketball Player Playing Tight End

Growing up in North Carolina, Dollar was just as serious about basketball as football. As a high school sophomore, he picked up an offer from Illinois-Chicago; more offers would have likely followed if football hadn’t made his future so obvious. Those basketball instincts translate directly to the football field, and it shows.

As a junior, Dollar hauled in 54 catches for 1,190 yards and 20 touchdowns in just 12 games. He’s got the size to win jump balls and the quickness after the catch to navigate traffic like a point guard in the open court.

“He’s one of these Swiss Army Knives that’s going to give people fits,” Ivins said. “We see it in the NFL. People want these guys in college as well, and there’s not a ton of them.”

That combination of size and receiving ability makes him a legitimate matchup problem at every level of the field. Whether defenders try to match him with a linebacker or a safety, neither option is a good one.

Georgia’s Tight End Pipeline Rolls On

Georgia has quietly built one of the most impressive tight end pipelines in college football. Assuming Dollar holds his top-100 ranking, the Bulldogs will have signed a top-100 tight end every year since 2020. That’s not an accident; it’s a program identity.

For Dollar, it was the culture that closed the deal more than anything else.
