Russ Smith is one of the better players to come out of Louisville in the last few years, but he just hasn’t found his footing in the NBA just yet. However, he might find himself on an NBA roster very shortly after his performance for the D-League’s Delaware 87ers Wednesday night.
Smith scored a D-League single-game record 65 points in a 140-129 loss to the Canton Charge. The best thing about his performance is that he only made one three pointer the entire game and was 24-43 from the floor.
There it is! Russ Smith scores his 62nd point, an all-time @NBADLeague single-game record! https://t.co/IApUmypMxe

With how bad the Philadelphia 76ers have been in the last few seasons, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Russ Smith get called up very soon. He has been a great piece for the 87ers this season, scoring 28.1 points per game while recording eight assists and 2.2 steals per game.
I guess playing under Rick Pitino with the Cardinals has certainly helped him out a good bit.
