Former Oregon cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu’s career in the NFL was nearly over before it began. He was a top prospect for the 2015 NFL Draft before tearing his ACL in the previous December and slipping all the way to the seventh round, where he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns.
He was not able to play in his rookie season and that led to the Browns announcing that they were moving on from the cornerback. However, that doesn’t mean Ekpre-Olomu wants his career to be over.
The cornerback spoke with NBC Sports recently and said that his knee feels fine and that he has been working out with NFL-caliber players and performing at a high level. He said that he will visit with with Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the surgeon who repaired his ACL, later this week and would get his knee re-evaluated even after being cleared to play by the physician.
If Dr. ElAttrache does clear Ifo Ekpre-Olomu once again, this could lead to a home with Los Angeles Rams. The physician’s bio on his webpage lists him as a consultant to the Rams and after losing Janoris Jenkins to the New York Giants, that could be their best move at this point.
During his career with the Ducks, he recorded 244 tackles and four interceptions, which more than shows he could be great player with some team in the NFL.
