Antonio Callaway’s suspension has been ‘modified’

Florida wide receiver Antonio Callaway is not yet back with the team, but it looks like his suspension is getting closer to being over. It looks like the rising sophomore is pretty close to being allowed back with the team.

Callaway has been suspended from both the team and the university since January for a violation of the Student Conduct Code. In March, Huntley Johnson, a prominent Gainesville attorney known for defending Gator student-athletes, said that the allegations against his non-client have absolutely “no merit.”

He released a statement on Tuesday saying his suspension has been modified as he will be allowed to take classes on campus and use the team’s practice facilities. He had been doing his schoolwork online.

“We are working through the process that The University has in place to reach a final resolution in this matter,” Johnson said in a portion of the statement. “There will be no further comment at that this time.”

During his true freshman season with the Gators, Antonio Callaway led the team in receiving yards with 678 and had four touchdowns. He also returned punts for 435 yards and two scores.
