The Syracuse football program received a potential impact player on the defensive side of the ball, when linebacker Keirston Johnson committed to the Orange on Friday afternoon.

Johnson, a three-star linebacker from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Fla., had interest from a number of programs including Maryland, Memphis, USF, Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State and others.
Ultimately, he decided to leave his region to enjoy the beginning of his collegiate career in New York.
