Sacramento Kings open stadium for ‘Pokemon Go’ meetup

“Pokemon Go” has taken over the country after just about a week of its release and it looks like the popularity has spread to the professional world of sports. The Sacramento Kings have a reputation for being ahead of the times, so them opening their doors for a fan meetup should come as no surprise.

On Friday, they will become the first NBA team to open their doors and allow players to walk around and catch Pokemon and hit up the Pokestops, which are nestled in by the team box office. Willie Cauley-Stein seems to be heartbroken that he won’t be able to attend.

The Kings also become the first professional sports team to allow Pokemon hunters in their stadium, but they didn’t think of the idea. Minor league baseball teams the Midland RockHounds and the Durham Bulls allowed fans to sniff around earlier this week.

I am sure the Sacramento Kings are well-aware that this game has taken over the country and it could lead to more fans wanting to show up next season, even if it is just to search for a Pikachu.
