Jason Witten: Cowboys can win without Tony Romo

Over the weekend, it was reported that the Dallas Cowboys would lose quarterback Tony Romo for 6-10 weeks after he suffered a broken bone in his back. This leaves Dak Prescott to take over the offense and one veteran player believes the team will be okay.

Tight end Jason Witten talked about how he believes in Prescott and how they feel like they can win, even without the veteran Romo behind center. He said they believe in the rookie and knows he can do a good job in Romo’s absence.

“People are going to bet against him, that’s fine, and I don’t think that’s unfair to do so,” Witten said. “But if you know what he’s about, which everybody in this building does, he’s going to be back sooner than probably expected and he’ll play better than anybody thought he would because I know that’s what he’s about.”

Last year, Romo played in just four games, but he helped them gain three of their four victories during that stretch. It will be tough for this team to do much worse than they did then.

It is Prescott’s team for the time being and he certainly seems to have a lot of support behind him. The Cowboys open the 2016 season on Sept. 11 against the New York Giants.
