Tim Tebow is somehow managed to remain in the public eye despite failing to reach superstar status in any sport. He reached an almost omnipresent status while quarterbacking at Florida, had his day in the sun as an NFL quarterback in Denver, and is now playing baseball in the New York Mets organization.
All those things could be considered footnotes compared to his long list of humanitarian efforts.
None of that is lost on his former coach Dan Mullen.
The two appeared on SEC Nation together, and Mullen got choked up and fought tears as he swelled with pride at what Tebow has accomplished. It was a special moment for everyone sitting at the desk.

It’s easy to forget that sports are only a vehicle to something greater, especially at the amateur levels. There is always a focus on competing, playing your best, and hopefully winning, of course. But that’s a byproduct to the efforts teaching boys how to be men. T
hat’s ultimately what amateur sports are supposed to be about, teaching young men how to commit to something and follow through on those commitments.
Even without prodigious success on the field, Tebow has managed to keep away from the types of scandals those in the public eye typically fall prey to (so far).
Mullen was well spoken and clearly filled with genuine pride for his “small part” in Tebow’s journey.
