U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt is currently on lockdown after a person attempted to detonate himself near the Embassy.
Initial reports say a suicide bomber carrying a pack of explosives blew himself up outside of the embassy. The bomber was reportedly stopped in time and detained.
Some additional reports indicate there is another bomb nearby.

The official Twitter account for the United States Embassy in Cairo released the following statement on Twitter about the incident:
We are aware of a reported incident on Simon Bolivar Street in Cairo. Please avoid the area and monitor local media for updates. We are aware of reports that public transportation near the area has been disrupted due to the incident. Please exercise caution.
At this time, there are no reports of any injuries, casualties, or major structural damage. Police are currently on the scene.
The Embassy asked all American citizens to stay away at this time.
