What would you do if accidentally almost broke one your childhood idol’s neck? What would you do if that childhood idol said he wanted to knock the shit out of you? That is exactly what happened to free agent wrestler Joey Janela back in May.
Janela shared a video of him and Joe Gacy in a match with the independent promotion Jersey Championship Wrestling at the Skate and Surf Music Festival. Giancarlo filmed a “spot” of Janela climbing on the portable toilets to jump on Gacy. Little did he know that WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts was in the first porta-potty. The roof of the porta-potty crushed down onto Roberts’s head, almost breaking his neck in the process.
Roberts gave his thoughts on the incident in an amazing WWE-type interview following the match.
That promo is classic Jake Roberts right there. I’d feel bad if I almost killed one of my idols, but it was all in good fun in the end.
Thank god, Roberts didn’t get hurt. Somebody needs to give these guys a contract. Too bad ECW isn’t around anymore.
