SEC has 16 lineman on Outland Trophy watch list

The preseason seems to be all about award watch lists as the Outland Trophy list was released on Friday. The list has eighty-one offensive and defensive lineman on its list and, to a surprise of no one, the SEC landed sixteen players of the eighty-one announced.

The SEC has a chance to add to its past twelve winners of the trophy with some pretty notable names on the list. Vadal Alexander, a guard from LSU, as well as Robert Nkemdiche and Laremy Tunsil from Ole Miss made the list.

Alabama had the most players on the list with four, which means they should have a pretty dominant line on both sides of the ball this year. Arkansas also had three offensive lineman make the list, which would make fans think that Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams should have another huge year as well.

Alabama linemen have taken home the last two Outland Trophies in the SEC with Barrett Jones winning the trophy in 2011 and Andre Smith in 2008. LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey won the trophy in 2007.

This could be a huge year for the SEC when it comes to taking home the hardware in January.
