Earlier this week, Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer recalled an odd conversation he had with Jim Harbaugh when the Hokies and Stanford Cardinal played each other in 2010 Orange Bowl.
It looks like that wasn’t the only strange thing that happened between Harbaugh and another coach during his time at Stanford.
Former UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel joined the Dan Patrick Show Thursday morning and talked about an odd handshake the two had during a game, which Stanford won. USA TODAY’s For the Win had the video of the Neuheisel’s appearance on the show.
“They won 24-16 and we’re driving trying to get the tying score and he comes across to shake hands — and this is before he did it to (former Detroit Lions coach) Jim Schwartz, by the way — and he just slaps my hand and (says) ‘What’d you think about that, Ricky?’” Neuheisel said. “And I’m like, Did that just happen? I mean who does that?”
Remember the handshake that nearly caused a tussle between Harbaugh and Schwartz during the former’s time with the San Francisco 49ers? This situation with Neuheisel was nearly identical.
Harbaugh’s career as a head coach at Michigan begins tonight at 8:30 as the Wolverines take on Utah. I can’t wait to see what kind of antics the coach pulls.
