Seth Rollins opens up about breaking John Cena’s nose

One of the hottest feuds in the WWE last year was the one between then WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and John Cena. In a match on WWE Monday Night Raw, Rollins hit the 15-time World Champion with a wicked knee and shattered his nose.

If you don’t remember, here’s a reminder of how it happened.

Rollins, who recently returned from a six-month absence after knee surgery, joined fellow WWE superstar Chris Jericho’s popular podcast “Talk is Jericho” on Friday and they discussed that moment last July.

Despite Cena being able to finish, and win, the match, the number one contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank still felt pretty horrible about the exchange.

“That was really bad. Dude, he looked gnarly,” Rollins said. “I felt so bad. It was just a knee, we were trading shots and I threw a high knee just for some separation so we could get to whatever the next thing we were doing was and for whatever reason … look, John’ll be the first guy to admit he’s a clumsy fella. He’s not a graceful individual. When he’s not sure about stuff, for his own protection, a lot of times he’ll put his body into whatever you’re doing. When you’re throwing punches at him or forearms, he leans a little bit.”

Seth Rollins made his return at last month’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view, returning as the ultimate bad guy that everyone still loves to cheer for. It is pretty surprising to hear him break his heel character, but it is also refreshing to hear that he genuinely felt bad about the accident.
