Michigan State QB Tyler O’Connor blasts Connor Cook critics

Tyler O’Connor is likely to become Michigan State’s next starting quarterback now that Connor Cook is NFL bound, and the rising senior recently took to Twitter to give those criticizing Cook’s character and supposed ego issues a piece of his mind.

Needless to say, O’Connor did not hold back.

Now, granted, as Cook’s teammate for a number of years, O’Connor definitely would have a good idea of how the man conducts himself in the locker room, during practices and in general. Based on his words, all of the concerns surrounding Cook are unfounded.

But the fact of the matter is that in spite of all the good he did at Michigan State, Cook has done little to separate himself from other quarterback prospects like Cal’s Jared Goff or North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz, both of whom were behind Cook on various big boards to start the 2015 season. That said, unless he absolutely knocks his Pro Day out of the park, Cook’s draft stock will likely remain that of a late first-rounder or early second round pick.
