Today the Davey O’Brien Foundation announced the 2014 watch list. The list features the nation’s best college quarterbacks who were selected based on standout performances during the 13’ season.
Last year freshman standout Jameis Winston won the award. He is looking to become the fourth quarterback ever to win the award twice. Only players to do so were BYU’s Ty Detmer (1990-91), Florida’s Danny Wuerffe (1995-96), and Oklahoma’s Jason White (2003-04).
This won’t be a slam-dunk for Winston as there are five semifinalists from a year ago on the watch list competing for the award. Brett Hundley (UCLA), Sean Mannion (Oregon State), Marcus Mariota (Oregon), Braxton Miller (Ohio State) and Bryce Petty (Baylor).
