2016 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Maryland) defensive end Shane Simmons committed to head coach James Franklin and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Simmons already has the potential to be a dominant player at the next level. At 6’3,225 pounds, he has two years left in high school where he will have the opportunity to gain weight for the next level.
Dematha high school head coach Elijah Brooks compared him to a Penn State alumnus who is having an impressive NFL career thus far.
“He’s eerily similar to another DeMatha grad that went to Penn State and is now with the (Miami) Dolphins at defensive end in Cameron Wake,” said Brooks. “Their size, their speed, their athleticism, it’s all very similar.
“The sky’s the limit for Shane. He has all the tools to be the best player he can possibly be.”
According to Rivals.com, Simmons is the No. 25 overall player in the 2016 class and the third overall defensive end.
