While the Maui Invitational had previously stolen the title as College Basketball’s top pre-season tournament, the Battle 4 Atlantis may give Maui a run for their money. This year’s lineup features two reigning Final Four teams (Wisconsin and Florida) as well as traditional power houses North Carolina, Georgetown and UCLA. The tournament will take place from November 26th-28th on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Rounding out the eight team tournament will be Butler, Alabama-Birmingham and Oklahoma.
Number three ranked Florida and four ranked Wisconsin will be heavy favorites to meet in the tournament final that features four ranked teams. Still, each game will be competitive due to the elimination-style nature of the tournament.
Last season, Villanova captured the Battle 4 Atlantis title when they upended Kansas in the semifinals before topping Iowa in the last bout. Despite being the retuning champions, Villanova opted not to participate in this year’s tournament.
