UCLA’s Devin Lucien Injures Head

UCLA head coach Jim Mora was visibly upset after the team’s afternoon practice on Tuesday about wide receiver Devin Lucien.  Lucien suffered a head injury when attempting to make an acrobatic catch and was immediately rushed to the hospital before later being released.  A season ago, the junior wide out made three starts for the Bruins recording 19 catches for 339 yards.

When talking about the injury, Mora said, “As always, we’re going to be overly cautious with anything that has to do with the head, neck or spine.”  He continued, “That’s not a toughness issue, but we’re praying for him and thinking about him. He’s in good hands.”

A source close to the program said that the team expects Lucien to return to practice in time for today’s practice.  For the Bruins, it’s essential Lucien is able to return healthy because he is poised to earn the starting wide receiver spot opposite of Jordan Payton.
