In recent years, the South Florida football program has struggled to find an identity on the field. Led by head coach Willie Taggart, the team limped to a 2-10 record and started four different quarterbacks in the process. Mike White, who threw for 1,093 yards, three touchdowns, and nine interceptions over five games, was one of those four quarterbacks, and it was verified by an inside source that he will remain the atop the depth chart.
White, just a sophomore, has solid experience at the helm, but was still locked into a heated position battle with junior Steven Bench. Much will be expected from White as the team faces a difficult four game stretch (Western Carolina, Maryland, NC State, and UConn) to begin their 2014 campaign.
