When Bruce Pearl was hired earlier this year, Auburn Tigers fans expected a positive impact on the program, but did any of them anticipate the commitment of ESPN 10th ranked small forward Danjel Purifoy? It’s rather unlikely, but nonetheless Pearl’s ban on communications with recruits is set to expire Saturday at midnight and more recruits will start flocking to Auburn.
Although Pearl was unable to recruit directly, he sent out his staff to several of Purifoy’s AAU games with the Atlanta Xpress, an elite southeast program. Purifoy has excellent athleticism and is a versatile player Pearl will surely enjoy coaching.
The former Tennessee head coach will be busy once the clock strikes twelve as he begins the push to acquire as much talent as he can to boost a rather weak basketball program at a football school.
Fans will have their first look at Pearl’s new look Tigers when the team begins its season on November 7 as the Tigers take on West Alabama.
