Jeff Lindquist Named Starter For Washington’s Season Opener

When Chris Petersen took over at the Washington in December, it seemed almost inevitable that he would reshape the dynamic of the program.  Petersen hopes to make an immediate impact on the school in his first season and that all begins with naming the starting quarterback.  The former Boise State head coach chose sophomore Jeff Lindquist to be the man under center for the season opener against Hawaii. Lindquist played in three games a season ago for the Huskies.

After game one, however, everything still remains uncertain as fellow quarterback Cyler Miles will return from his game-long suspension for an off-season fight.  Miles was the heavy favorite entering training camp, but a few poor off the field decisions have cost him the chance to win the position.

Still, the coaching staff will reevaluate the position after game one and from there on the starter will be anybody’s guess.
