Florida State has announced reshirt freshman linebacker Matthew Thomas has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.
On the bright side, defensive end Chris Casher has been ruled academically eligible and will play today versus the Citadel.
Thomas was one of the best prospects from the 2013 recruiting class and chose Florida State over Miami and USC. He has been dealing with an ankle injury that forced him to miss the opener against Oklahoma State.
Warchant.com was first to report that the university did not disclose why Thomas was suspended but that he is expected back by mid-season against Notre Dame on October 18.
Casher should boost the depth on the defensive line but he can also line up on the outside and play linebacker.
The Seminoles face off against the Citadel tonight at 7:30 ET.
