The Florida Gators are hoping to stay healthy after being decimated with injuries last season. The offense was alive and well after defeating Eastern Michigan 65-0 on Saturday, pleasing everyone in Gainesville.
However the injury bug came back to bite, and they will be without tight end Jake McGee for the rest of the year after he broke his tibia and fibula in the first half of their win.
After playing and graduating from Virginia, McGee transferred to Florida and was hoping to make an impact this season.
He caught 43 passes for 395 yards last season. Head coach Will Muschamp planned for McGee to have a key role in Gators’ new look offense.
Senior tight end Clay Burton filled in for the injured McGee and caught seven passes for 42 yards.
The Gators will begin SEC action when they take on the Kentucky Wildcats at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 13.
