The reigning Heisman trophy winner is back in the headlines, and once again, it’s not for football.
After being witnessed standing on a top of a table on campus mimicking a vulgar sexual phrase that has been popular on the internet recently, Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston will be suspended for the first half of the Seminoles’ game against Clemson this upcoming Saturday night.
Winston has been involved in many incidents since he first stepped foot on Florida State’s campus, and most of them have shed a negative light on himself and the university.
“As the university’s most visible ambassadors, student-athletes at Florida State are expected to uphold at all times high standards of integrity and behavior that reflect well upon themselves, their families, coaches, teammates, the Department of Athletics and Florida State University,” interim president Garnett Stokes and athletics director Stan Wilcox stated. “Student-athletes are expected to act in a way that reflects dignity and respect for others.
As you would imagine, head coach Jimbo Fisher has heard this song too many times.
“There is a level of frustration. You never want any kind of instances like this. We have to keep learning and educating and we have to make good decisions on things,” Fisher said.
You would hope that missing any time during one of the biggest games of the year would be a humble lesson for the young man.
We will see if Winston finally learns.
