Nebraska K Mauro Bondi Out With Broken Collarbone

Nebraska K Mauro Bondi will not play this week, after breaking his collar bone in a motorcycle crash Thursday night.

The Lincoln Journal Star referenced the police report for the incident, reporting that Bondi struggled while trying to make a turn, struck a curb and veered off the road. A passerby helped Bondi back to his apartment when his roommate then drove him to the local hospital.

The report also stated that there was no alcohol involved in the incident and that Bondi was in fact wearing a helmet. The kicker was cited however, for negligent driving and riding without a motorcycle license.

Bondi has carried the load on kickoffs while Drew Brown has handled place-kicking duties. Brown will likely now take on both responsibilities until Bondi recovers.

No timetable has been given for Bondi’s recovery from the injury.
