Rutgers’ RB Paul James Done For Season

Rutgers’ leading rusher Paul James will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in Saturday’s game against Navy.

James was off to a great start this season, rushing for 363 yards and five touchdowns. He missed four games last season with a lower leg injury but still finished as a first-team AAC selection after rushing for 881 yards and nine touchdowns.

Before the injury, James had rushed for 96 yards on seven carries.

The good news is, Rutgers has some capable replacements. Justin Goodwin rushed for 102 yards and Desmon Peoples chipped in with 82 yards of his own.

“Paul’s not going to be an easy guy to replace. He’s a very good football player,” head coach Kyle Flood said. “But we’ve got good players in that room. It’s one of the deeper rooms on our football team and now Justin Goodwin, Desmon Peoples and our two freshman (Josh Hicks and Robert Martin) are going to have a chance to carry the ball.”
