Week 4 Top Threads

Week 4 saw some real beauties. Oregon lit it up as expected, there was a lot of dope helmets, and a few honorable mentions. Love seeing what teams are bringing out as we start getting to the heart of the season. Really looking forward to what the playoff and bowl season will bring us.

Indiana University (Honorable Mention)

Attention to detail is key, I would have missed this little gem if it wasn’t for ESPN highlights. Luckily, I saw the gentle stray from the norm Indiana displayed on the helmets today. Details, it’s all about the details

West Virginia

As for the Mountaineers, the helmets did it for me; like I’ve mentioned over and over, execution is key. Those yellow helmets coupled with deep blue uni’s & pants = perfectly executed balance. Not too much, not too little by the pride of Morgantown and the entire state of West Virginia in general. Honestly, aside from WVU football and that school being named Playboy’s top party school a few years ago, why ever enter that state? The answer doesn’t matter, they lost the game, and the style battle in week one. I still see you though WVU!

Oklahoma

Great Big 10 matchup in terms of talent and style for week 4. First off the Sooners came out white hot (literally) with those uniforms, helmet, jersey, pants, everything. They legit won for style. It’s always a treat to see a traditional team in alternate uni’s, keep it up Sooners.

University of South Florida

Very low key, but South Florida may have the best helmet game in college football. They made the list in week 2 for the chrome domes with green accent. This week, I can’t help but notice the effectiveness of the matte green with deep gold accent. Nothing else special about them this week, but they stood out and they looked good doing it. That’s how it’s done.

University of Utah

The Utes making their Campus Sports debut! Utah made a statement today in the victory over Michigan, both in play and style. About a week ago CSN writer Anthony Parry commented on Utah’s white jerseys, and I ignored him…until I saw them myself. I must admit, the jerseys are tight, they impressed me as much as Utah’s play today

Oregon

Nike dressed its real child better than its step children again this week. I tried my hardest not to mention Oregon last week, and I fully intended on not mentioning them this week. However if I did that I’d be doing college football fans an injustice, and that I cannot live with. Do you see that yellow and chrome contrast? Down to the facemask, it’s simply genius. I would say, “All Hail Nike” as uniform king, but that Star Spangled Banner outfit by Under Armor last week was pretty sweet. Anyway, back to what matters, the Ducks did nothing short of amazing fans again. Can’t wait to see what Nike cooks up for their chosen sons in Week 5!
