SEC Suspends Miss. State Center Dillon Day

SEC commissioner Mike Slive has suspended Mississippi State center Dillon Day for Mississippi State’s SEC home opener against Texas A&M on October 4.

Day was caught jumping on LSU defensive tackle Davon Godchaux and again on cornerback Rashard Robinson during a separate play. Fair or foul, Day was suspended for a related incident last season and LSU head coach Les Miles made sure the SEC was aware of the matter.

The senior center wrote a letter addressing the allegations he intended to jump on his opponents to Mississippi State fans and claimed his innocence.

Day will miss another huge opportunity for the Bulldogs. After their upset win against LSU in Baton Rouge, the Bulldogs have climbed the ladder all the way to No. 14 in the country, and are looking to build off that momentum against Texas A&M on October 4. Senior offensive lineman Ben Beckwith is fresh off of winning SEC offensive lineman of the week honors. He will have to anchor the Bulldogs’ line in place of Day against Texas A&M.

It’s going to be a huge weekend for Mississippi fans. Not only will Bulldog Bash — the biggest football weekend of the year for Bulldog fans — be going on, SEC Nation will be live from Starkville for the showdown between the Bulldogs and Aggies as well.
